Aerosol Spread from Saharan Dust

Aerosol Spread from Saharan Dust
An aerosol forecast from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) on April 23, 2024, shows a thick plume of Saharan dust blowing off the desert toward Libya, the Mediterranean Sea and Greece.

These forecasts are produced every 12 hours and are used to assess the concentration of atmospheric particulate matter as well as modeling its transport and dispersion. Public authorities can use these forecasts to take steps to mitigate the effects of dust on public health.
